The Bay of Islands Marina was buzzing last week for the Bay of Islands Marina & Cruisers Festival 2022!
The week of fun filled events was a great opportunity to meet and greet the newly arrived cruisers, have some fun, and learn a few local secrets.
Members of the Opua Business Association put on some fantastic talks, workshops and seminars, including a locals guide to sailing in the BOI, an offshore sail repair workshop, and some top tips for fishing in NZ waters.
Broker Robbs from 36 Degrees conducted an offshore sail trim seminar from the 36 office.
Delicious food was served throughout the whole week, including nibbles, a classic kiwi. sausage sizzle, burger night, and pizza!
Friday night consisted of the Pacific Cruisers Cup, a race held in conjunction with the Opua Cruising Club’s usual rum race. Congratulations to the Whiting 29 “Uenuku” who took out the trophy! (And a bottle of rum of course).
Sunday’s “Whatever Floats Your Boat” themed dress up party was held at the Cruising Club, accompanied by a live band. The night began with a classic club meal followed by some smooth moves out on the dancefloor later in the evening.
Thanks to the Bay of Islands Marina office for organising and coordinating the event.
So lovely to meet all the cruisers from all parts of the world, we hope to see you all again next year!
