DESIGN

The Excess 11 has been designed by VPLP Design, one of the most renowned naval architecture companies in the world, with Patrick le Quément on the exterior and Nauta Design responsible for the interior. It's design follows on from elder sisters without sacrificing all the comfort factors needed for enjoyable cruising. The Excess 11 breaks with the code of traditional sailboats on the market thanks to her strong personality and sporty design. Refined lines, elegant proportions, and perfect balance make her visually and practically an outstanding vessel.

PERFORMANCE

‘Inspired by racing, built for cruising’ is the mantra of the Excess line, which the Excess 11 lives up to. A sporty rig enables generous sail area, with an optional pulse line rig offering more than 10% sail area/displacement ratio for guaranteed thrills while sailing. Manoeuvring is a breeze with titanium-style aluminium stanchions and cleats, and Dyneema steering cables made for responsive steering. And because aesthetics always matter, fluorescent fiber guard wires give her a distinct ‘racy’ feel.

INTERIOR

Bright, contemporary, and well utilised are the key themes of the Excess 11 interior. Cedar and white-blend woodwork create a modern look, offering a lively atmosphere onboard with plenty of natural light and ventilation. A practical galley located aft makes you the centre point for social interaction. L-shaped sofas create a functional main saloon with plenty of under-seat storage. A chart table and storage seat are the perfect working space. The master cabin features independent access from the saloon area and a generous 2x2m bed. A 4-cabin or Owners Version layout gives you the option to bring the whole family onboard.

EXTERIOR

The exterior, as designed by Patrick Le Quément, embodies great character, sportsmanship, and modernity. Twin aft helm stations offer great visibility and guarantee responsive driving and peace of mind at sea. The helm seat folds away nicely while at anchor to allow easy movement in and out of the stern. The cockpit area features an L-shaped bench on the starboard side and a daybed on port. Seats on the aft beam sit above a large storage locker. Up forward, there are large sun pad areas for enjoyment with good company.

TWIN AFT HELM STATIONS

Whichever way the wind blows, rest assured you’ll be confident and comfortable at the helm. Signature twin aft helm stations create the ideal position to keep an eye on the sea and sails, whether windward or leeward. Unlike high-helm stations, this new layout allows lowering the boom, increases the mainsail’s efficiency, and improves access. Manoeuvring can also be done safely and easier while docking. The twin helms assert the sportiness of the Excess 11 by providing unmatched sensations underway.

AWARD WINNING

2021 has shaped up to be a big year of achievments for the Excess 11. The 11 took out Boat of the Year 2021 award from the American magazine Cruising World, claiming "no single nominee did so many things as well as the simple little Excess 11". A huge success for the youngest member of the Excess range. The Excess 11 also won the Best Boats Award 2021 from SAIL Magazine in the Best Multihull Cruising Boat Under 50ft category. Nomoinations include the prestigious European Yacht of the Year Awards for the 'Family Cruiser' category and Multihull Magazines Multihull of the Year 2021.
